Permission for music “American By God’s Amazing Grace” has been provided by Luke Stricklin    http://www.lukestricklin.com/

“American By God’s Amazing Grace” was actually written by Luke while serving on the streets of Baghdad.

The story of "American By God's Amazing Grace" has been told on news outlets ranging from CNN and Fox News to Newsweek and The Today Show. First recorded through a $10 microphone on a laptop in the heart of the Iraqi capital, the song bounced to country stations nationwide via email and strong word-of-mouth buzz. Within days of his return stateside, the soldier who co-wrote and recorded it was performing for crowds and signing a record contract.

A note from Santa Bridget for 2008:

Wow…. It’s so hard to believe we are into our 4th year!  I celebrate the growth and all of my loyal volunteers and sponsors across the United States, but my heart breaks at the need to continue.  To date the death toll has surpassed 4000… with no end in site.

I had to once again kiss my son good bye as he headed off to Iraq for yet another tour,  another Christmas away from home, only this time its two babies he leaves behind, his wife Nikki is a trooper.

So just how far has Santa for Soldiers come?  We started in my living room in Arizona in 2005, and by February 2008 (Hearts for Heroes) we have had 31 states across the US participate in one form or another!  Is that not confirmation that we are doing something right?   We have taught school children across America that they too can make a difference!  It doesn’t matter how young or how old.   I believe if my records are accurate the youngest participant was a 3 year old Sunday school classroom who made valentines with their hand prints, it was the most precious little handprint. (See the Hearts 4 Heroes tab to view)  The oldest participant that I am aware of was an 89 year old Veteran who was living in a nursing home and wrote a very heartfelt note to one lucky soldier.   I now sport SANTA4U on my license plate!

As we begin the kickoff for the 2008 Christmas season, I wanted to let you know I have finally decided to file for a 501 3c tax exempt status, and while it is still in process, I hope to be able to announce its completion before Christmas.  A lot of paperwork and money involved.  All of the money spent on this process has been my personal donation.  As always, all of the money collected for the soldiers goes to the production of the stockings, postage or valentines mailings, we are all volunteers.

If you are reading this message and checking out all the new photos and letters, I have to personally thank Harvest Crittenden from Acorn Arts, http://www.acornarts.org who has donated her time and talent to keep this website up and running! We are so blessed to have her talent and generous donation!  Please make sure you check out our sponsors on the sponsor’s tab and help us support them!  I’d be lost without her!

Please continue to share this website with everyone in your address book, besides this website; word of mouth is the only advertising we currently have!  Please don’t stop now…continue to support us…make a donation, doesn’t matter how large or how small… and it doesn’t have to be a monetary donation, write a letter, donate some gifts, whatever works for you.

Blessings to all of you who have supported our efforts, the teachers and school districts who have allowed the children across America to participate, our sponsors and especially to all the families and soldiers who have given us the freedom we celebrate today.

Together…we can make a difference!

My humblest gratitude,

Santa Bridget
